Microsoft is getting back into the smartphone business, even if it insists that its upcoming Surface Duo device isn’t really a phone. Here is everything we know and don’t know about the dual-screen phone.
Microsoft has announced a new dual-screen device called “Surface Duo”, it is a foldable phone, which supports two screens to open two independent apps separately and run at the same time. The folded size is similar to the normal smartphone, so It can fit in your pocket.
How does it work
The Surface Duo has two 5.6-inch displays that can unfold to become an 8.3-inch tablet, there is a bar in the middle of the phone, so it is not a seamless display. Each display can run two apps at once at the same time, it can be used as a tablet, a notebook or a laptop. It can also turn into a landscape mode, which allows the second display to be used as a keyboard.
Partner with Google
Microsoft wants to partner with Google to push more Window apps on Android in the future. And now Microsoft is partnering with Google to give the Surface Duo Android capabilities, like downloading apps for the Google Play Store, also it allows the user to use Microsoft browser on the device.
